Community Pharmacy’s role in the national flu service is increasing the reach of this important health protection measure. In 2016/17 season pharmacy delivered almost one million vaccinations to at-risk groups. More information on the Pharmacy Flu Service is available on the PSNC website.
The role of a Flu Champion is an important one by promoting the service to their customers, patients and the community in which they work. They can also support the recruitment of people into the service and help with the preparation of paperwork, leaving the pharmacist free to complete a clinical assessment and provide the actual vaccination.
Our Flu Champion course provides an individual with the knowledge and confidence to engage more fully with the NHS National Pharmacy Flu Vaccination Service. Learners will cover the fundamentals of flu, the national service, providing the service, the role of the Flu Champion, approaching customers, signposting and resources and promoting the service.
Building on the Health Champion qualification the Flu Champion course provides additional evidence for Healthy Living Pharmacy criteria.
