Description
Health Champions are members of the pharmacy team who are patient-facing and have achieved the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) Level 2 award in Understanding Health Improvement. This role and qualification is widely recognised by public health. Their key role is to pro-actively provide people with information about their health and wellbeing, signposting them to support and services that will help them adopt healthier lifestyles.
It is a requirement for any pharmacy wishing to be and remain an HLP to have at least one full-time equivalent (35 hours minimum) Health Champion in the team. We have developed guidance to help choose the right person (here).
Our course
When you place an order for the Health Champion course please also provide details of the learner by completing this online enrolment form.
The training develops knowledge and confidence and many HLPs have more than one Health Champion including their delivery driver as they interact with some of the most vulnerable people in their homes.
Our engaging distance-learning Health Champion course covers the 8 hours required of the current RSPH syllabus. Learners receive a workbook which guides them through their learning with activities and reflection. This workbook also serves as a useful ongoing resource for their role.
“What a wonderful training course, I loved reading it and constantly refer back to it now I am a qualified Health Champion” Health Champion
They have access to an online mock assessment to check understanding and build confidence and the OFQUAL regulated qualification assessment will be taken in-pharmacy under strict invigilation requirements. You can see a training video for this by clicking here.
Once qualified, Health Champions receive their certificate, a letter of congratulations and access to our useful Health Champion Facebook community.
How it works
When you place an order for the Health Champion course please also provide details of the learner by completing this online enrolment form.
As soon as we have your payment and the learner details we will send a course workbook to the learner at the address provided so that they can start as soon as it arrives.
Once the course is completed and your learner feels ready, they can take their online mock assessment. To do this visit the My account page (you can find this at any time in the main Navigation at the top of our website) and click on Health Champion Mock Assessment. They’ll be able to access the online mock assessment there when they are ready. They will need to follow the online instructions to set up an account.
When they have passed their mock assessment, our training centre will be notified and will then send the formal assessment to the named invigilator with clear instructions on what to do to complete the assessment in the pharmacy.
If you have any queries or questions connect with us and we’ll be happy to provide you with the answers.
